Paleoproteomics Lab

Collaboratively operated by the Institute of Evolutionary Medicine's 'Paleogenetics' and 'Paleopathology and Mummy Studies' Research Groups, the Ancient Protein Laboratory is devoted to the investigation of historical and prehistorical biological specimens. Upholding stringent clean lab protocols, which include the requirement of specific attire and safety equipment, our proteomic research is anchored in a medical and biomolecular perspective. We have the capacity to process a wide variety of materials, including but not limited to, mummified biological tissues, dental calculus, ancient biological hard tissues (bone, dentin, enamel), and organic residues from ceramic and metal vessels.
